We are aware that Councillor Sean Coughlan has been charged with a variety of offences. It would be inappropriate for further comment at this stage as the Police investigation continues.

Councillor Coughlan has been suspended from The Labour Party and therefore the Labour group, and it is our understanding that he has also stepped down as a councillor and is no longer an active councillor in the Walsall Borough.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, and we ask that their privacy is respected at this extremely difficult time.”
