On behalf of the Walsall Labour Group and the wider Walsall Labour family we would
like to wish our Muslim residents EID MUBARAK.
This year Ramadhan has been very different and we have not been able to take part
in many of the activities that are so much a part of Ramadhan. Visiting family, doing
Iftari with our friends and loved ones, inviting people to do Iftari with us, visiting and
praying at the Masjid and being part of the congregation for the Taraweeh night prayer.
The Muslim community in Walsall, and across the United Kingdom, has made
enormous sacrifices with many front line workers, particularly in the NHS, having made
the ultimate sacrifice. In Walsall the Muslim community has followed the rules very
diligently even in the most distressing times such as funerals and burials.
So this Eid, although a time of celebration, we remember with sadness those that we
have lost and the families that have been left behind who will at this time will be thinking
of their mothers, fathers, grandparents etc. We also remember those that are less well
off than ourselves across the World who will be spending Eid in very difficult
circumstances and particularly we remember the victims of the PIA flight that crashed
Once again to our Muslim Community at this time of Eid-Ul-Fitr Councillor Aftab Nawaz
and Councillor Khizar Hussain, on behalf of the Labour Group and the wider Labour
Party in Walsall, wish you all EID MUBARAK.
Councillor Aftab Nawaz
Leader of the Walsall Labour Group
Councillor Khizar Hussain
