Walsall Labour has announced its plan to put Walsall Council’s finances back on track after a year of reckless Tory spending decisions.
Under the Tories Walsall is on the wrong track, with reckless and wasteful spending putting jobs and livelihoods in Walsall at risk.
Only last month Tory-run Walsall Council agreed to hike council tax by an inflation-busting 3.99% – at the same time as spending £10 million on private consultants, splashing out £200,000 on a refurbishment of the council chamber, and boosting allowances for senior councillors.
We can’t go on like this. Only Labour has a plan to put our council finances back on the right track.
Our plan to put Walsall’s finances back on the right track:
- Labour will review spending of millions of pounds on private consultants.
- Labour will freeze increases to senior councillors’ allowances from 2019/20.
- Labour will give greater priority to Council’s audit committee to review finances.
