The Tories are slashing school funding in Walsall, with the borough set to face £9.5million wiped from its education budget by 2020.
Analysis from the schoolscuts website reveals a per pupil funding loss of £242 per head.
A recent survey by one West Midlands MP found that 95% of schools have had to make cuts on books and equipment since 2015.
One Primary School Head Teacher commented: “I lie awake every night wondering how I am going to reduce further without harming the provision to our students.”
Labour has been fighting tooth-and-nail for a fair deal for Walsall. And we won’t stop until we get fair funding in line with other parts of Britain.
Tory-run Walsall Council is on the wrong track, with reckless and wasteful spending putting jobs and livelihoods in Walsall at risk. They have spent £26million of Walsall taxpayers’ money on a transformation plan for the council, including £10million of spending on private consultants.
Now it’s clear they have also failed our young people. In the Local Elections its time to send them a message that enough is enough.
